President's Message
September 2025
Dear Massachusetts NAPNAP members,
Welcome back! That seems to be the common theme in September for our children and patients and it is also the same for our Massachusetts chapter. We are excited for our 2025-2026 slate of events. We hope you can join us at our happenings. In addition, if you are interested in learning about any of our committee work, please reach out to a board member.
I'm excited to work with our new board as mentioned in my summer email. I look forward to working with President-elect, Elise Buckley; Treasurer, Jennifer Durning; Secretary, Kathleen Carr; Communications chair, Heather Groskind with committee member Breanne Palmer; Legislative chair Chris Reeves with committee member Meghan Cusick; Membership co-chairs Kaylee Woods and Valerie Bailey; Program (Continuing Education) co-chairs, Kelly Cavan and Hilana Bernheimer; and Scholarship, Mentorship and Research committee co-chairs Marketa Rejtar and Katie Penny with committee member Jennifer Amon. We have begun preliminary annual planning however we also welcome your input on topics, speakers, and ideas for our chapter.
As we kickoff the year, save the date for our fall Continuing Education program on the Massachusetts DPH Immunization Program at the Local in Waltham, Friday October 17 at 7pm. We look forward to meeting and networking with you.
We will continue our annual tradition of our Holiday Toy Drive and Wrap Party in December for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. It is a great night for a great cause! Join us!
Stay tuned for our Winter Symposium in late January, early February. More details to come.
Another of our well-received activities is our Student Panel night in February for Boston area nurse practitioner students within months of graduation. Recently graduated NPs from area programs share their valuable insights into the post graduation “fray”-studying, taking boards, job seeking, etc.
We also remind you to join us for NAPNAP national conference in Pittsburgh, PA March 18-21. Our chapter usually has a welcome networking event soon after opening ceremonies. “National” is always a great time to catch up with colleagues from across the country and learn about exciting nation wide innovations. Please reach out to myself or any board member with any thoughts or suggestions!
Sincerely yours,
Mary Ellen Killion, CPNP
President, MA chapter NAPNAP
